A practice ground for GTM tracking

The theory of the dataLayer takes ten minutes to read and months to get wrong in production. The store here is fake, the events are not: open GTM preview, walk the funnel, and watch what fires.

The funnel, event by event

Every page of the store pushes its matching GA4 event. None of them is simulated — they are the ones you will meet in your own integration.

  1. view_item_list Opening the catalogue, with each product's position.
  2. select_item Clicking a card's link — never its add button.
  3. view_item Landing on a product page.
  4. add_to_cart Adding to the cart, from a card or from a product page.
  5. remove_from_cart Removing a line from the cart.
  6. view_cart Showing the cart, once the lines are painted.
  7. begin_checkout Arriving on the checkout page.
  8. add_payment_info Picking a payment method.
  9. purchase Order confirmation, once per transaction.
